About my work

Born in Rockford, Illinois, I studied maths ๐Ÿค“ and economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, proceeding then to earn a law โš–๏ธ degree at Lewis & Clark in Portland, focusing on Intellectual Property Law. After law school, I made a u-turn โ†ช๏ธ and dove headlong into the startup scene in Palo Alto, and started designing experiences and writing code ๐Ÿ‘พ. So began my present career.

Over the years I've worked with teams from 1 to 50, in companies from pre-seed to Disney ๐Ÿญ, wearing many ๐ŸŽฉ๐Ÿ‘’๐Ÿงข like they're going out of style, sometimes playing the IC, sometimes the team lead, and almost always the glue.

Recently I've been focusing on helping early-stage companies get off the runway ๐Ÿ›ซ by bringing their ideas to life on the web ๐Ÿ•ธ through rapid prototyping and nimble iteration. This is rewarding, energizing work, but in the next phase of my career I intend my work to have a broader ๐ŸŒณ impact.

A lifelong autodidact ๐Ÿ“š, I'm constantly picking up new and old toys and ๐Ÿ›  tools, taking them apart ๐Ÿช› to see how they work and what new wonders or smoother flows we might create. This site, for example, took less than 8 hours to build, thanks in part to SvelteKit.
